when woogie left us two years ago, everyone sort of stared at pinay...who was at that time already aging, but still had that original puppy spunk and snottiness we all loved her for. we all knew that one day, we would soon be mourning her...

but we quickly chased those horrible thoughts out of our minds....and the years passed by.

this morning, december 29, 2008...we found pinay seemingly sleeping...but she had passed..

......we all broke down when we realized what had happened..

what kills me...but at the same time comforts me to no end...is the fact that she seemed to be in perfectly good health....and was even begging me for a treat just a mere 10 hours before. she had plopped herself down next to a bag of treats (her christmas present from a few days back) and stared at me with her big, beautiful brown eyes. of course i obliged and tossed her a few, not even asking her to give me her paw since in the past few years it was harder for her to raise her hand...my brother even told me that pinay was perfectly fine when she kept sniffing at his side later that night...

to know that she didn't suffer (i pray to God that she didn't...)...but at the same time to think that she died without even giving us the a sign that she was ready to go...perhaps her last act of goodness to the family by sparing us the worry and sadness in seeing her in pain....

to the animal shelter dog who we rescued from the pound who tortured us (ha!) during her young puppy years....but who quickly matured to a strong, smart, mature dog who quickly became our family member..our sister...our guardian..our unconditionally loving friend...who gave 12 years of her life in protecting our household and her family...who loved us with her big heart and infectious energy....who had been right there with us in all the very sad...very funny....very angry...and lastly the very happy moments that my whole family had....thank you for gracing us with your presence...and we will love you so much..and thank you always for loving us as much as we loved you....

please rest in peace my pretty, pretty girl Pinay...and please continue to watch over us with Woogie and look down on us from heaven...

we love you pinay.... 

PS i will miss you looking out our window pane, with your snout resting on the window sill, always leaving your tell-tale snout marks on the glass panes...i will miss you sitting at the top of our stairs...always looking out to the our sidewalk for any possible intruders...i will miss you by your beloved food bowl, stuffing your tummy to your hearts desire...we will miss you greeting us NO MATTER WHAT whenever we arrived, even in your older years...with your slow steps towards us, your heavy tail wagging slightly....i will miss you mischievously barging into my half-closed door, only to lick my hand and nudge at my fingers....i will miss hearing your heavy and slow footsteps going up our stairs, only to stare sheepishly at us when we would catch her....i will miss you my sister...we will just plain miss you 'nay...

it seemed like we went up higher than last time i went. it actually freaked me out how much higher we were. maybe because at delmarva, nice gentle fields were below us..but here..just barren jagged mountains :-x
